On Sunday October 07th, 2006, some members of our „Familiengemeinschaft“ met for a comfortable day in Würzburg (17 adults and 3 children) met at 10 o'clock. After a warm welcome, Dieter showed us the fortress Marienburg. We had a marvelous view of the town from the exterior castle wall and Dieter took the opportunity to tell us something about his hometown and history.

After a small tour around the castle, we strolled through the beautifully area of the country garden show to the brewery restaurant „Würzburg Hofbräu“. After having lunch with good wine or beer, our way led us to the old „Mainbrücke“. On this day from beginning until end, many dealers offered their goods in many small stalls. The tour by the old town led us to the historic city hall and then through the lanes to the old wine house "Stachel“, in which Tillmann Riemenschneider had already drunk his wine. We passed the renovated „Marienkapelle“ up to market place to „Falkenhaus“ with its marvelous stucco façade. An intense shower of rain let us approach „Neumünster“ and cathedral. We inspected the crypt of the „Frankenapostel“, who were murdered and buried here in 689. After a substantial cathedral visit, we planned coffee visit, but due to the rainy weather, the cafés were hopelessly overcrowded. Meanwhile, it was already late afternoon and the first members said goodbye. Some of us went under a big „sun parasol" at „Marienplatz“ and enjoyed, thanks to a warmth mushroom, a cup of coffee really still before leaving Würzburg.

A beautiful day together therefore ended in Würzburg and all of us agreed, we will see us at the next family excursion 2007.
