High above the romantic Neckar valley between Heilbronn and Heidelberg there is the castle Guttenberg surrounded by wine yards and forests. There 18 members of our community with families met on Sunday, 27th September morning for a tour through the historical medieval fortification and also the German bird of prey station.

This station presents different birds of prey and owles. We could enjoy to watch an impressing air show of different birds of prey. Beneath the American bald eagle we could watch the golden eagle hunting in the air and from the water. Also eagle owls and different kind of vultures like the lammergeier were flying closly over our heads.

Later we visited an exhibition about the birds of prey of all over the world and of different time periods since 10.000 years.

After dinner in the castle tavern we went to the castle museum with its very interesting exhibits from the history of the castle and enjoyed to see the birds without cage. Then we climbed up to the 40m high castle tower and had a magnificant view over the Neckar valley.

Finally we enjoyed coffee and homemade plum cake, before we drove back home to follow the finish of the Bundestag election.

Further pictures and impressions of the excursion the members will find in our memer area.
