Ever since 2009 we have been establishing a TNG-Database for Dettling research on a worldwide basis. [TNG stands for The Next Generation of genealogy site building.] By means of this data bank we can now collect research results from our members, improve the content, and provide better information for requests concerning Dettling ancestry.
With great and time-consuming effort, Dieter [Dettling], Andrea [Dettling] and Gerhard Müller worked on collecting the various Dettling research results, put together especially by our chairman Dieter over several years. As a first step, we were able to enter the different Dettling branches from Horb, Salzstetten, Mühlbach, Dettlingen, Grünmettstetten, Altheim, and Rexingen. Added were materials for the Knights of Dettlingen along with their three lines.
From 2010 on we added a great deal of data for previous-centuries emigrants to the Black Sea, Southeastern Europe, Batchka, the Banat, Syrmia, Australia, America, etc. Here, too, we were able to rely on the research experience of our members. We now have specialists for the areas Odessa, Batchka, the Banat, etc., who allow their expert knowledge to enter into our efforts.
At this point we would like to point out that any data entrusted to us is used exclusively within the framework of Dettling Family research and for the purpose of continued discovery of new connections. Our database contains some 20,000 names of those with Dettling ancestry, descendants, and relatives on both the male and female sides. Despite all our successes thus far, this work will continue to keep us busy for years to come, when we will undoubtedly come up with surprises, of which we’ll be happy to report to you.
For that reason we are pleased to receive any trace of the Dettlings you might find and report to us! Many thanks for any future contributions and, of course, we’ll be pleased to help you in the future.
